Rosa Gulliver of TINYGMUSIC | 9th July 2024
V of 21st century pop icons BTS unveiled his photobook titled ‘TYPE 1’ today. Candidly capturing V in moments of tranquility, the 224-page photobook will also be followed by a series of offline events showcasing photos from the photobook, held globally throughout July and August.
His relaxed and effortless demeanor was previewed in a black-and-white cinematic poster revealed earlier on BTS’ official social media channels, where he restfully leans against a wall with unkempt hair. The poster includes lyrics from V's self-written 2019 track "Scenery"—“I still wonder wonder beautiful story / Still wonder wonder best part / I still wander wander next story / I want to make you mine”—which adds a layer of mystery to the photobook.
V was heavily involved in every aspect of the photobook, from selecting the travel destination for the photos to deciding on the title and its components, in an effort to complete it with moments he wished to share with ARMY (BTS' fandom). Following through the chapters will reveal a deeper genuine portrayal of V and the person Kim Taehyung (V’s given name), captured before his military enlistment, complemented by collectible components that evoke the ambiance of the featured travel destination.
The release will be followed by ‘ARTSPACE: TYPE 1,’ a series of offline events showcasing photos from the photobook, to be held throughout July and August in 6 cities worldwide—Seoul, Bangkok, Taipei, Vancouver, LA, and Tokyo. These events will follow the flow of the photobook's chapters, allowing fans to forge a deeper connection with V as they immerse in the scenes captured in the photobook.
‘TYPE 1’ is now available globally. The Magazine version—a softcover 152-page edition—will also be available on August 6 via Weverse.
