HOSHI X WOOZI today released their long-awaited 1st Single Album BEAM.

As the "mastermind duo" of SEVENTEEN, HOSHI and WOOZI form a dynamic combination, with HOSHI leading the performance unit and WOOZI as the leader of the vocal unit and the band’s primary producer. They first demonstrated their synergy with “Bring It,” a B-side track from SEVENTEEN’s second studio album, TEEN, AGE in 2017. Now, they make their eagerly awaited return as a unit, stepping into the spotlight to showcase their talents.

In BEAM, a title representing the light emanating from HOSHI and WOOZI, the duo captures the essence of their artistry. Radiating with confidence, originality, and self-love, they shine in any situation, embodying the brilliance that characterises them. As a true representation of the duo, the album's unique sound is crafted with significant input from both members, with their names featured on every track.

The lead single “96ers” lies at the core of the album, capturing the duo’s journey and identity as lifelong friends born in 1996. It combines a daring, innovative hybrid sound with clever lyrics full of confidence, development, and ambition.

In the accompanying music video unveiled today, HOSHI and WOOZI command attention with a unique aura that sets them apart in a world where individuality is often lost in imitation. Set against a backdrop reminiscent of an art museum, the duo embodies originality and confidence, presenting themselves as living masterpieces. While the visually striking aesthetic enhances the infectious energy of the track, the duo’s undeniable talent and effortless synergy shine through in fluid choreography.

In addition to “96ers,” BEAM includes two more tracks that highlight HOSHI and WOOZI’s unique style—“PINOCCHIO (feat. So!YoON!),” an alternative R&B song using a clever Pinocchio metaphor to reveal the poignant irony of love intensifying through hidden emotions and white lies, and “STUPID IDIOT,” a deep house track with powerful, catchy beats that playfully reflect the duo’s bold and carefree attitude towards life.

Speaking about their new release, HOSHI and WOOZI said:

  • HOSHI: “WOOZI and I have always been inseparable since we were young. We’ve long dreamed of working as a unit, and now that we can finally present BEAM to the world, I’m beyond excited. This album truly reflects the kind of music we want to create, so we’re planning to fully enjoy ourselves on stage.”

  • WOOZI: “It’s an incredible experience to release a new album with my closest friend in life. We had an absolute blast working on it, and I believe that energy is what makes this album so honest and true to us.”

As the duo emerges as a fresh unit, SEVENTEEN reaches a significant milestone this year, commemorating their 10th anniversary. Ten years into their journey, they persistently reinvent themselves, both as a complete group and through their unit endeavours, challenging expectations with their unwavering ambition and continually broadening musical range.
